Health and Human Values

Health and Human Values

The health and human values minor at Mount Union is an interdisciplinary program integrating the humanities and social sciences. This unique offering will help students cultivate a deeper and broader understanding of health at multiple levels: individual, family and community, societal and global. Students will engage multiple and interrelated contexts of health and well-being, including religious and spiritual, economic, cultural, geographic, and artistic. They will consider how the environment, socio-economic status, gender, race, age, religion, and other factors affect health and health disparities. Students will reflect on their own concepts of health and well-being (physical, spiritual, mental), developing capacities for resilience and a sense of purpose, as well as cultivating deeper empathy for persons across categories of difference.

Develop Thoughtful Advocacy

Through the course of the health and human values minor, you will gain resources to advocate for health and health justice. The minor will help you enhance your understanding of health and healthcare in American and global society, and will help those interested in health-related fields become more effective practitioners. The health and human values program is part of the Department of Justice, Diversity, and Interdisciplinary Humanities.
