Choosing a Double Major
I chose data science & analytics and biology because I wanted to understand how things work on a deeper level. Biology teaches you to understand the world around you, while data science taught me how to break down information and find meaningful patterns in the complexity. I didn’t want to just memorize facts — I wanted to learn how to ask better questions and find better answers. Both create a skill set that’s needed more and more in fields like healthcare, biotechnology, and research. I wanted to set myself up to make a real impact.
Impactful Faculty
One thing I’ve really appreciated about Mount is how easy it is to build real connections with the professors. It’s the kind of place where grabbing lunch or having a real conversation outside of class just feels natural. Professors like David Gothard, John Ross, and Michael Reolfi made a big impact on me because they are the kind of people you could talk to about anything — from soccer and everyday life to building the kinds of connections that helped me get the experience I need and put me on the path to where I want to be!
Overcoming Obstacles
One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced is learning how to stay consistent through everything going on. Being a student-athlete means that a lot of the effort happens quietly, when you’re just showing up for yourself day after day. At the same time, trying to balance academics, athletics, and relationships outside of both forced me to constantly problem-solve and become adaptable. Over time, I realized that the most important things are built in those everyday moments like the habits you create, the way you hold yourself accountable, and the standard you hold yourself to. That mindset has become a part of who I am.
