Favorite Memory at Mount Union
One of my favorite memories from Mount Union was placing second in a regional entrepreneurship pitch competition! A team of students and I generated an idea for individuals on the autism spectrum to increase inclusivity. We took second place against teams from other universities in Ohio. The entrepreneurship program was a wonderful way to build my confidence in public speaking and using creativity in my job! I was also a Spectrum intern with Dr. Kristine Turko, where I obtained training for my Registered Behavior Technician certification. I received training with kids on the autism spectrum and worked at The Golden Key in Canton. This was a wonderful experience that provided me with clinical skills that I was able to speak to on graduate school interviews.
Career Achievements
I currently work at Louisville Metro Department of Corrections where I provide individual and group psychotherapy and psychological evaluations to adults in custody as well as correctional officers. I really appreciate my ability to be an advocate for adults in custody and for mental health initiatives. Each day is different and requires flexibility. There is never a dull day when working in a correctional facility! In May 2025, I will graduate with a doctor in psychology degree. Throughout my career, I would love to assist in creating mental health initiatives/legislation that improve how individuals with mental health concerns are treated in the criminal justice system.
Staying Connected to Mount Union
I chose Mount Union for the close-community feeling that I got while visiting campus! I appreciated smaller class sizes which gave me the opportunity to genuinely get to know my professors and classmates. It was nice returning to campus for the commencement ceremony. My brother graduated in May 2023, so I was very excited to hear about his success at Mount and see him graduate.
