Life after Mount Union

I aid a theatrical production by being a communicative piece between the director, actors, designers, and production staff. I attend all rehearsals and performances taking daily reports and leading production meetings to keep folks on schedule and budget. I troubleshoot, problem solve, and pivot, often before anybody realizes there was a complication or issue. During a show, I can be found backstage aiding with anything from scene transitions to costume quick changes. And am often found in a booth calling the show. Meaning any light, sound, projections, or scenic moves happen when I say they do. If I've done my job correctly, you won't even know I was there.

Being Part of Greek Life

I was apart of the Alpha Xi Delta sorority for all four years of my collegiate career. Not only did AXiD give me lifelong friends but it taught me how to make quick connections and really built my confidence. AXiD also gave me an outlet to exert my energy when I wasn't stage managing as well as knowing how to have a life outside of my job has been imperative to keeping my longevity in a profession with a high turn over rate.

Staying Connected to Mount Union

I stay connected through Shakespeare at the Castle actually. I've been very fortunate to return to Shakespeare at the Castle, now as a professional, and to get to work with Mount students. I've even had the opportunity to come back during the school year to see shows that those students may have stage managed, acted in, or built. I'm all about trying to build alumni relations, especially in an industry like theatre where it is all about connections. I also love Mount Union football games! I still try to go to one or two a year if I'm in the area and have the time. Mount football is the main focus of a group chat I have with some sorority sisters of mine. Every Saturday at least one of us is watching and updating the others. It reminds me that Mount wasn't just a place I lived for four years, it is a place that has a piece of my heart and a feeling of home every time I step onto campus.
