Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) is recognized nationally every year during the month of April to call attention to the fact that sexual violence is widespread and impacts every person in the community. SAAM aims to raise public awareness about sexual violence and educate communities on how to prevent it. To learn more ways in which we can build safe, inclusive, and equitable communities free of sexual violence, visit the National Sexual Violence Resource Center.
Teal Tuesdays
Teal is the color used to symbolize sexual violence prevention. Help us raise awareness, contribute to creating a community free from sexual harm, and show support for survivors of sexual harassment and abuse by wearing teal on Tuesdays. Or, if you would like a teal ribbon to wear, you can pick one up at any Sexual Assault Awareness Month event or at the Information Desk in the HPCC. By wearing teal, you are signaling that you support survivors and are a safe person to talk to if they need to reach out.
In addition, each Tuesday in April, the University will send a campus-wide email providing educational information, details regarding upcoming events, resources, and points of contact related to sexual assault.
