Why Mount Union?
I wanted to study Japanese because everything about the culture intrigued me. I found out that Mount was one of very few institutions in Ohio that offered Japanese and required study abroad for students to complete the program. I decided to tour the campus and apply; after being accepted, my journey in Japanese began! I instantly fell in love with the curriculum which allowed me to befriend people with similar interests as mine.
Real-World Experiences
As a student I was involved in many organizations such as Japanese Club and the Association of International Students. Being involved in multiple executive boards allowed me to improve my intercultural and interpersonal communication skills because I use them daily in my current position. An unforgettable experience that enhanced my knowledge about the Japanese culture was studying abroad. Another experience that I lived in undergrad was participating in Honors Convocation because my hard work was paying off.
Life after Mount Union
Aside from studying Japanese, I also studied business administration and communication studies. I gained a wide array of skills through these other two concentrations. After graduating I landed a job as a Claims Administrative Support Specialist. I help internal clients with administrative tasks, such as mailing of claims letters, policy disclosures, and claims payouts. This job will allow me to gain managerial skills and potentially further my education.
