Choosing Art

I've always loved to make art. Graphic design ended up becoming my major because of a career tech class I took in high school which made me realize how much I enjoyed it. I designed a large amount of the branding and promotional material for our school’s performance of “elf, the musical” during my senior year. I was also able to design shirts for multiple music programs, including marching band, jazz band, and show choir. My high school teacher, Rob Quicci was a major reason for me deciding to pursue graphic design as a career because of his passion for the industry and how supportive he was of me and my projects. Continuing graphic design in college will allow me to pursue art as a long-term career. My advisor, professor Muffet has been a guiding force of encouragement who I've had the opportunity to take many classes with. He always gives constructive and supportive feedback that makes me want to continue to improve my work and that's something I value. He always makes a point to include as many students as possible on critique so that everyone can get multiple perspectives on their assignments.

Why Mount Union?

Growing up in Alliance, I am very familiar with Mount Union. Getting to visit and learn more about its programs during high school made me realize that it was exactly what I was looking for in terms of academic curriculums, class size, and the campus community. There's a lot of people on campus, but you'll always run into someone you know, whether that's when you're walking to class or grabbing lunch in the cafeteria. Even something as simple as waving hi to someone you know really makes you feel welcome here.
