As a surrealist, it is mandatory that my artwork explore a mental space outside the field of normal awareness, in a place where consciousness, unconsciousness and all things possible and impossible exist as one. At the nexus of my work is a concern and philosophy about the environment and man’s place in it.
Why Mount Union
It was a small school, close to home, but far enough away that I felt like I was on my own. It offered small classes with a lot of one interaction with the faculty.
Favorite Professor
Professor Zellwegger – he was outlandish, unusual and taught in an engaging fashion that still resonates with me.
Interesting Work
I have always pursued my art, but there have been occasional side jobs that helped along the way. One of my favorites was helping disadvantaged youth through The Lahaina Arts Society in Maui.
Campus Involvement
I was President of the Psychology Association and was involved in Blue Key Honor Society, the fraternity Sigma Alpha Epsilon (SAE) and Fencing Club.
Continued Education
I earned a Master of Fine Arts degree at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio.
Mount Union Benefits
My Mount Union experience provided me with a rigorous and well-rounded education.
Favorite Part of Job
I am my own boss and I am following my passion.
