Advice to Prospective Students

Be true to yourself, know what qualities you want in your institution. Even if you don't know where you truly want to go, just know what you want out of the collegiate experience, what experiences you want. You've got the right to be picky and choose where your money goes, make the institutions work for you.

Why Marketing?

I chose marketing as my major because it truly is indicative of where our country is going. The excellent faculty at Mount Union made the choice easy as well. What really sold me was the campus visit I had with late professor McConnell. He made it all seem so perfect, and I really resonated with what he said about the program in relation to my job prospects. This was solidified by professor Ross, truly one of the greats in the business department. His experience in the field, passion, zeal, and great stories, made me truly want to pursue a future in the business industry. My ultimate goal is to find a steady, good paying job, where I can advance and prove my worth to the company, exhibit my leadership, make a profit, and form relationships with my peers. UMU gives me every tool I need like the hands-on experience and course-conecpts.

Overcoming Obstacles

The biggest obstacle I've been learning to overcome is being homeschooled because this did not allow me to build a support system outside of my home as well as make friends. At Mount I have been able to step outside my 'shell' as I've joined student organizations, meeting new people, and simply show up and participate in new things.
