Why Teach Media?
I love teaching! I've always been interested in film since I was a young kid and as an adult I'm thrilled that I get to teach and dialogue with people about the power of media.
Research in Curricula
I've conducted online audience studies examining audience behavior on Twitch.tv and a participant observation research trip to a fan conference that has impacted how I teach research methods to students, specifically when exploring conversation and discourse analysis or ethnography.
Personal Touch
The small size of classes and the campus gives a very personal touch to an undergraduate education. Working directly with professors was the most memorable part of my undergraduate experience and Mount Union facilitates that very well. You get the personal touch with the resources of a larger, traditional university.
One-on-One Connections
Teaching at Mount Union appealed to me because of the small class sizes! Knowing each of my students and their learning styles and goals is very important to me as an educator. I want to know you so I can meet you where you are. You can't do that at a big university teaching to a lecture hall of 50-100 students.
