Gallaher Lecture Featuring Jeff Berger
The Gallaher Lecture will be presented by Jeffrey Berger.
Berger is a Ph.D. theoretical physicist, where he has worked on high-energy nuclear scattering phenomenology involving gluon cascades. Since leaving academia, Berger has worked at six different startups, building a distributed calculation engine for executing large-scale statistical ML jobs and developing quantum-inspired algorithms that ran on both classical and quantum hardware. Currently, he works for his own startup, Vega Labs, where he is running language placement exams leveraging statistical machine learning (ML) and a biotech laboratory management software leveraging large language models (LLMs).
His lecture is titled "Rogue Physicist: A Journey Through The Tech, AI, and Quantum Computing Industry."
