Why Mount Union's PT Program?
I chose Mount Union DPT because of the environment it offered. When I interviewed here, I knew immediately that this was the school for me. The faculty and staff make everyone feel welcomed and they are compassionate and encouraging about our progress through this program. I truly believe that our staff sets this program apart from others. The opportunities that we have to volunteer and work out in the community are helping me prepare for my career as a PT. These opportunities allow us to work with people outside of the classroom.
Real-World Experience
I have completed one 8-week clinical rotation, and I really enjoyed it. My rotation was at Drayer Physical Therapy Institute. I was expected to be able to treat patients that I was familiar with and those who had a low complexity diagnosis. I would prescribe exercises to patients and perform manual skills. This rotation taught me that to be a good PT you have to be committed to your work and you have to be compassionate and caring; as physical therapists, we have a duty to provide each patient with the highest quality treatment we can offer. It helped me gain confidence in what we are learning in the classroom and improve my ability to talk with other healthcare professionals.
