Why Art?
I chose art as my major because I enjoy coming up with creative solutions to visual problems. In my experience being a graphic design artist, people will come to me with an abstract idea that they can't visually articulate. I get the opportunity to create something that brings their idea to life. The most rewarding part of being a graphic design artist is seeing others enjoy the finished product; whether it's a logo that uplifts a brands identity or maybe even an apparel design for a cozy sweatshirt.
As I'd like to own my own business one day, Mount Union is preparing me for my future career by allowing me to participate in events like Art Fest and Raider Tank. Through experiences like these and on-campus jobs, I've learned the importance of public speaking and overall, enhanced my communication skills.
Overcoming obstacles
More than an obstacle, it has been a challenge to balance my time because when I am not in class, I'm on the field with the track team, working on campus, part of the honors program, a resident assistant, and more. So, having multiple roles and responsibilities can feel overwhelming, but no student has to face the challenges that come with college alone. At Mount, I've built my support system comprised of friends, family, faculty, staff, and my teammates.

While each faculty and staff member that I've met at Mount Union have impacted my journey one way or another, I highly appreciate the support I have received from Dr. Keith Miller, Professor Michael Kachilla, Professor Margo Miller, and Amy Laubscher. They have made my time here extra special. These individuals have gone above and beyond to help me reach my goals.
