Johnson Lends Expertise in Leading National Seminar on Religion, Vocation

August 19, 2026

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana — As part of the 2026 Religion/Theology/Vocation seminar from The Council of Independent Colleges (CIC), through its Network for Vocation in Undergraduate Education (NetVUE), Dr. Nicole Johnson, professor of religious studies and chair of the department of interdisciplinary humanities, utilized her expertise to co-lead a group of peers through a five-day focused seminar.

NetVUE selected 12 faculty members through a highly competitive process to participate in the seminar, representing institutions from Hawaii to South Carolina. Johnson, who has been the recipient of multiple NetVUE grants that have benefitted Mount Union and its campus community, helped lead discussions on a range of topics at the intersection of religious studies and vocation. The primary focus was to extend beyond classroom applications to include research, writing and institutional leadership on the topic of vocation.
