April 14, 2026ALLIANCE – The Community Campus Coalition recently announced that Kaylynn Thomas ’26 was the University of Mount Union’s recipient of the 2026 Charles J. Ping Student Service Award.
The Ping Award is designed to recognize and honor undergraduate students for their outstanding leadership and contributions to community service or service-learning on their campus and within their community. Ten students from across the state of Ohio received this honor. The award is sponsored by Community Campus Coalition named in honor of Charles J. Ping who served as President of Ohio University from 1975-1994.

On campus Thomas is a member of Alpha Delt Pi Sorority, Alpha Phi Omega Fraternity and the Pre-Physician Assistant Club, and served as Co-President of Kappa Omicron Nu.
"The only word that comes close to describing how I feel about being selected for this award is humbled. My time at Mount Union has shown me just how meaningful serving others can be, and I cannot fully express how much my perspective has grown or how much personal growth I have experienced through service," Thomas said. "I am incredibly honored to be recognized alongside so many inspiring individuals, and I'm deeply grateful that others have seen value in the ways I've tried to support those around me, foster connection, and contribute to campus life."
