As a dermatology PA, I work under Dr. David Corallo’s supervision to diagnose and treat a vast number of skin, hair and nail conditions and diseases. I can write prescriptions, perform biopsies and educate patients on their diagnoses, as well as work on prevention of skin cancers through regular screenings and sun safety.
Why Mount Union
I completed my undergraduate education at Mount Union and saw how the program thrived within the first year. I decided to apply for the second PA class. The beautiful campus was my home for the previous four years, and the program was a great fit for me.
Mount Union Confidence
Mount Union’s program was new at the time I was applying to PA schools, and I had watched the program start from the ground up. But despite this newness, I was confident that Mount Union’s program had the potential to bring new and groundbreaking ideas to PA education. This “newness” also gave my classmates and me the ability to help mold and shape the future of the program as it continues to strengthen.
Favorite Professor
Professor Betsy Ekey is very kindhearted and hard working. She was always available for questions and advice. But most of all, she led by example.
Hands-on Experience
The most memorable hands-on experience was anatomy lab at the Cleveland Clinic. We also gained hands-on experience with clinical skills, learning how to suture, cast and perform exams.
Career Preparation
Every experience while in PA school was helpful in some way – whether it was learning time management to complete all your assignments, making mistakes while performing exams or dealing with difficult patients during clinical rotations. During each and every moment of PA school, something could be learned to better prepare me for my career as a medical provider and for life in general.
Excellent Program
Mount Union’s PA program continues to excel in educating students for their careers as physician assistants. You can graduate from the program knowing that your years of hard work are going to pay off as you begin your new career as a PA.
Well-Rounded Education
Mount Union helped to prepare me for my job as a PA by giving me a well-rounded education. I knew I wanted to work in dermatology, and they helped me to get clinical rotations in dermatology, which eventually led to my job offer with Dr. Corallo.
Staying Connected
Soon after graduating from PA school, I started volunteering with the PA program by helping proctor the testing of students. I also help interview prospective PA students.
Lifetime Goal
I would like to visit all the national parks.
Good Investment
Mount Union has prepared me for my career and given me the tools to feel fulfilled both personally and financially.
Favorite Part of My Job
I like working with people in my own community and being able to educate them on the prevention of skin disease.
