Studying Abroad
I traveled to Lyon, France to enhance my cultural competency and further my education by using my French skills. Studying abroad gives students a chance to grow as individuals while also engaging in unique experiences that hold a competitive advantage for a career or furthered education. Studying abroad in France has been my favorite experience that Mount Union has provided me with! But I have also traveled abroad with the School of Engineering to the University of Bradford where I got to conduct research working alongside experts to gain hands-on skills in the lab. My favorite part of the trip was getting to visit the British Museum during one of our cultural excursions.
Impactful Faculty Member
The faculty member that has had the biggest impact on my experience at Mount is Dr. Dudash. As my advisor she has supported me both academically and personally to be the best student and engineer I can be. She is a phenomenal professor in the classroom and a strong mentor for helping me decide my career after graduation. In class, Dr. Dudash has always challenged me to perform at my best and to consider each problem thoroughly and precisely. Her dedication to continuous improvement of her own teaching has inspired me to want to provide others with the same excellence that she does.
Overcoming Financial Burdens in College
An obstacle I've had to overcome to get to this point is earning enough money to pay for college tuition. I work two part-time jobs, and have received scholarships like the Trustee, Manzilla, and the Women's Scholarship. However, I have also received two scholarships for the Academic Research Award, which will allow me to attend various conferences. Having the ability to seek financial assistance has greatly relieved the stress of working to provide for my remaining tuition. I can work a part time job while still having time for friends and extracurriculars on campus.
