The Center for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence offers programs designed to enhance the community's technological and skill-based proficiencies. With programming geared at adults and children, members of the community can boost their knowledge to prepare for career or school success.
The Raider Advancing Careers through Computer Education and Skills for Success (ACCESS) Training Program is a collaboration between faculty, staff, and students and the University of Mount Union whose goal is to provide adult education in technology to members of the community who will benefit from it most. We will do this through offering courses, broken up into modules, at the Alliance Commons. The topics of the modules can change each semester but this document focuses on our offerings for fall 2026.
The Raider ACCESS Training Program will have classes every Tuesday at the Alliance Commons. The leadership team has been working with Abigail Schroeder to coordinate space and refreshments to be provided at all sessions, along with a prize for those participants who complete a module. For the fall semester, the modules are divided into two tracks. The first track contains Resume Building, Artificial Intelligence Literacy, and Computer Literacy and will have meetings from 5 — 6 p.m. every other week starting September 1. The second track contains the remaining three modules described below, Microsoft Excel Basics, Intermediate Microsoft Excel, and Advanced Microsoft Excel, will be offered weekly on Tuesdays from 6:30—7:30 p.m. starting September 1.
The Raider ACCESS Training Program inspires confidence, cultivates potential, and empowers participants through accessible instruction, individualized support, and practical skill-building. We aim to expand access to technology education, increasing community engagement and lifelong learning in Alliance, Ohio.
Code Alliance has been approved for affiliation with Code Club. Code Club is an international network founded by the Raspberry Pi Foundation, a globally recognized leader in computing and computer science education. Through this partnership, Code Alliance has access to a quality library of educational resources, volunteer training materials, safeguarding guidance, and club management tools. This program is free to interested participants.
The club will meet from 6:30-7:30 p.m. every Tuesday at the Alliance Commons Room 207 and will be open to students entering first grade and above. Rather than following a sequential curriculum, Code Alliance will offer self-contained, weekly activities. Activities are designed to accommodate a broad range of ages and may include block-based programming, text-based coding, physical computing, computational thinking challenges, logic puzzles, and collaborative design activities. All activities are designed to emphasize creativity, problem-solving, teamwork, and confidence-building.
To ensure the program remains accessible to all interested students, Code Alliance has partnered with the Alliance Commons and the University of Mount Union’s Information Technology (IT) Department to provide laptops for student use during club events. In addition to serving youth, Code Alliance provides meaningful leadership and community engagement opportunities for Mount Union students.
