Mount Union's PA Program

While mastering the medical knowledge is, of course, essential to becoming a PA, Mount Union’s program goes beyond that. One of the most impactful aspects has been the emphasis on truly caring for patients—not just treating their conditions, but understanding them as individuals. The program consistently encourages us to approach each patient interaction with empathy, compassion, and an open mind. We’re reminded that we’re all human, and no one wants to feel judged when seeking care. This mindset has helped shape me into a more compassionate and patient-centered provider. Before starting at Mount Union, I had only heard phenomenal things about the PA program and its faculty—and that has proven true throughout the past 27 months!

Becoming a Physician Assistant

Growing up in a small town, I saw firsthand how deeply communities support one another. On multiple occasions, my own family members faced serious health emergencies, and every time, the first responders and healthcare professionals stepped in with compassion, efficiency, and skill to ensure the best possible outcomes. Those moments left a lasting impact on me. Additionally, watching my older sister work as a NICU respiratory therapist inspired me to further my journey in medicine. Seeing her dedication and the difference she made in the lives of her patients and their families motivated me to pursue a career where I could provide that same level of care, support, and advocacy as a physician assistant.
