Why Mount Union's PA Program?
I chose to attend Mount Union for my PA degree for a variety of reasons. For one, the program’s pass rate on the board certification exam continues to exceed the national average. I think this speaks volumes about the dedication of the faculty to teaching the next generation of PAs. As an applicant, I was also very interested in Mount Union’s annual mission trip to Guatemala. This is a unique opportunity offered by the program, and I am beyond excited to officially be traveling to Guatemala with classmates this December to provide medical care to remote villages. Lastly, attending Mount Union has allowed me to remain close to my support system in Canton. This has been an important key to my success in such a rigorous graduate program.
Gaining Real-World Experience
I have had clinical experiences in internal medicine, women’s health, and general surgery. Each of these rotations has offered a variety of patient encounters that have already shaped my medical education and will guide me into finding my true passions. I’ve had the opportunity to evaluate newly admitted patients in the hospital, perform daily hospital rounds, write chart notes, perform routine gynecologic and obstetric examinations, assist general and gynecologic surgeries, assist C-sections and vaginal births, conduct pre- and post-operative visits, and more. Having the opportunity to witness these patient encounters in real life has helped to solidify everything I’ve spent the past year studying in the classroom. I am excited to continue expanding my knowledge of medicine during my remaining seven rotations.
