CANTON, Ohio - Women have been progressing to be successful in leadership positions in the business industry, and the University of Mount Union's School of Business focuses on preparing female students to confidently enter their respective careers.
“At Sherwin-Williams, I’ve been able to strengthen my skills in professional sales, data tracking, and customer engagement—all transferable to HR and marketing roles,” said Michele Hofacker ’25, human resource management and marketing double major.

Hofacker will graduate in the fall and wants to start her career in a position that will allow her to build relationships with employees and customers. A specific role Hofacker is considering is to be part of a talent acquisition team.
“I have also been learning about managerial responsibilities, assisting customers and contractors with whatever paint needs they may have from store manager Autumn Fuson,” said Hofacker.
Hannah Norton ’25, also a human resource management major, is preparing to transition into a full-time employee at Crystal Clinic after graduating in the fall and has been working closely with the clinic’s human resources department since June 2024 as an intern.

“I serve as the human resources coordinator at Crystal Clinic,” said Norton. “In this role, I interact with employees daily and participate in meetings as needed where my responsibilities include providing professional-level support to both the human resources department and the organization’s staff.”
Norton also helps administer and coordinate daily HR programs, policies, and procedures, maintain the human resources information system (HRIS), compile key HR metrics and statistics, and respond to routine personnel inquiries. She credits the manager who hired her with her success because she taught her about the professional environment at the clinic.
Hofacker and Norton are part of a large group of students at Mount Union who use their summer vacation to step into real-world situations and apply everything they’ve learned in the classroom.
