Professional Licensure Disclosure

Professional Licensure Disclosure Requirements

The University has identified educational programs that may lead to specific professional licensure or certification in states other than Ohio and is in the process of researching whether our program curricula meet educational requirements for licensure/certification in those states. Students who intend to return or move to states outside of Ohio should contact the professional licensing boards in those states to determine whether they will be eligible for licensure/certification based on rules and regulations in place at the time of application. The University of Mount Union shall not be held liable if students are unable to qualify for licensure/certification in any jurisdiction.

Programs

  1. Education

    The School of Education at the University of Mount Union offers various undergraduate, graduate, and endorsement programs in Education.  The School of Education is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) and our programs are approved by the Ohio Department of Higher Education.   

    Our Education programs are designed to prepare students for licensure in the State of Ohio.  The School of Education is currently in the process of researching whether our programs meet education requirements in states other than Ohio.  Each state’s licensure board should be contacted for complete information on the application process and additional requirements. For a comprehensive list of state teaching boards and contact information, please see State Departments of Education – NC-SARA.

    Undergraduate Programs

    Adolescence to Young Adult, Intervention Specialist, Middle Childhood Education, Multiage Education, Music Education, Physical Education, Primary Education

    Undergraduate students who successfully complete coursework and pass all associated licensure exams are eligible to be recommended for the recognized 2 Year Ohio Resident Educator Licenses and/or Endorsements (Prekindergarten Special Needs, Middle Childhood Generalist in Language Arts and Reading, Mathematics, Science, and/or Social studies). 

     

    Graduate Program

    M.Ed. Ohio Principal Licensure

    Graduate students who successfully complete coursework in the M.Ed. Ohio Principal Licensure (OPL) Concentration and pass the associated Ohio Assessment for Educators (OAE) 015 Educational Leadership exam are eligible to be recommended for the Ohio Principal’s License (PK-6, 4-9, and/or 5-12). While the M.Ed.   2. Nursing

    The Nursing program at the University of Mount Union offers a traditional and accelerated Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing as well as Master of Science in the Family Nurse Practitioner track.  

     
    Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Traditional)

    The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) at the University of Mount Union is accredited through the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).  Students graduating from the program are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) and apply for licensure in most U.S. states and territories. 

    The BSN program is designed to prepare students for licensure in the State of Ohio.  If a student plans to pursue Registered Nurse licensure in a state other than Ohio, it is recommended that the student review the state’s licensure requirements.  For a list of individual U.S. state and territory determinations and links to state licensing boards, see State-by-State Determinations or see NC-SARA’s Nursing - Professional Licensure for additional state board information.

     
    Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Second-Degree Accelerated)

    The Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) at the University of Mount Union is accredited through the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).  Students graduating from the program are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) and apply for licensure in most U.S. states and territories.

  3. Physical Therapy

    The University of Mount Union’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program is fully accredited through the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). Students graduating from the program are eligible to take the National Physical Therapy Examination and apply for licensure in all states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. 

    The Doctor of Physical Therapy program is designed to prepare students for licensure in the State of Ohio. If a student plans to pursue Physical Therapy licensure in a state other than Ohio, it is recommended that the student review the state’s licensure requirements through the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy.   4. Physician Assistant Studies

    The University of Mount Union Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies program is fully accredited through the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA). Students graduating from the program are eligible to take the Physician Assistant National Certifying Exam (PANCE) for certification by the National Commission on Certification of the Physician Assistant (NCCPA) and apply for licensure in all states and the District of Columbia.

    The Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies program is designed to prepare students for licensure in the State of Ohio. If a student plans to pursue Physician Assistant licensure in a state other than Ohio, it is recommended that the student review the state’s licensure requirements.
