Reporting an Incident

The University of Mount Union Diversity and Title IX team takes all violations of Title IX and university policy very seriously. We encourage constituents to report an incident of sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and/or stalking to the Title IX office, any employee, by submitting an incident reporting formor emailing titleix@mountunion.edu.

We also recognize that reporting an incident – whether to the University or law enforcement – and deciding on a course of action can be challenging. Please know that, at the time of reporting, individuals do not need to have decided on a specific course of action or how to define the incident. The process of making a complaint and determining how to proceed can take time and may evolve gradually.

Important Information Regarding Incident Reporting

  • Mandatory Reporters

All Mount Union employees are mandated reporters and are required to pass along violations of Title IX reportable behaviors to the Title IX coordinator or deputy Title IX coordinator, and or their supervisor, except employees bound by confidentiality (professional counselors and clergy). This reporting should occur within 24 hours of knowing. All reports are kept private, meaning those who need the information will have the information and those who need to know the information during the grievance process will know and have the information.

  • Privacy

The University of Mount Union respects your request for privacy; however, the University may not be able to grant that request if the incident indicates that there is a threat to the campus community at large or to another individual. The request for privacy limits the University’s ability to investigate and determine the risks associated with the incident.

Notice of an incident does not mean a formal investigation will ensue. With the reporting party, it is the responsibility of the Title IX Coordinator/Deputy Coordinator to gather information about an incident and determine the depth of the investigatory process.
